Q: What season is lacrosse played?
A: Lacrosse is a spring sport which is played principally from March through mid-June.
Q: How are the teams divided?
A: BOYS: Kindergarten Grades 1-2: Grades 3-4: Grades 5-6: Grades 7-8
GIRLS: Kindergarten Grades 1-2: Grades 3-4: Grades 5-6: Grades 7-8
Q: When does the spring season start?
A: Pre-season skill clinics (optional but recommended) on Saturdays in March. The regular season will begin in early April, subject to field availability.
Q: Where do we practice?
A: We practice at the George Fisher Middle School, Kent Elementary and Kent Primary School, Paladin Center and Camarda Park.
Your child's coach will contact you to let you know where and when practices and games will be.
Q: Where are away games for travel?
A: All different locations in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Connecticut. (See the FIELDS menu on the website home page.)
Q: How does our family register?
A: Go to the website and sign up online. Online registration offers a secure credit card transaction. CRYLAX prefers Visa and Mastercard. You will then receive an email confirming your registration. That note will include contact information and important dates.
Q: What is the deadline for registration?
A: January 15, 2017
Q: What is U.S. Lacrosse?
A: The national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. All players must be current members of U.S. Lacrosse upon registering for the CRYLAX programs. Their website is: http://www.uslacrosse.org.
Q: What are the major differences between Boys and Girls lacrosse?
A: In Boys' lacrosse, body contact is allowed above 4th Grade and checking sticks are allowed. In Girls' lacrosse, no body contact is allowed and modified stick checking at the 7th/8th grade level only.
Q: What is the CRYLAX uniform? A: Uniform is jerseys and shorts provided by CRYLAX. No modifications to uniforms or helmets is allowed unless voted on and approved by the Board.
Q: Can we choose our child's number for their jersey? A: No. Numbers are assigned randomly. Q: What equipment do we need?
A: GIRLS EQUIPMENT: Lacrosse Stick, Eye protection and Mouth Guard.
BOYS EQUIPMENT: Lacrosse Stick, Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Arm Guards, Gloves, Mouth Guard, and Athletic Supporter with Cup. Rib pads are optional but recommended. Footwear is personal choice; please wear sneakers in the gym, cleats are best on the grass. We suggest that CRYLAX players avoid sticks that have narrow (“pinched”) heads as these sticks are designed for extremely advanced players
